01 / Perspective

How I think
about risk.

Before deciding what an opportunity is worth, I want to understand the risks.

The downside comes first.

My early work in portfolio risk at SEB taught me to pay attention to liquidity, balance sheets, and exposures that are easy to overlook when conditions are favorable.

I still start there. Before asking what an investment could become, I want to know what has to go right, how much room there is for error, and what happens if the assumptions fail.

01

Respect the timeline.

New technologies rarely follow a neat schedule. I look at whether a business has the capital and operating plan to support the time it needs.

02

Preserve room to act.

I value the flexibility to respond when conditions change. Capital can provide time, access to expertise, and room to make a different decision.

03

Let the evidence lead.

A well-supported view can still be wrong. I want to know what would change my mind before I become too attached to a conclusion.

Patience needs a reason.

A long investment horizon still calls for regular scrutiny. I distinguish between a difficult period and a change that undermines the original case. Persistence alone is not evidence of progress.
